Smoothies have become increasingly popular in the past few years. By choosing the right ingredients you can incorporate healthy habits into your everyday, on-the-go routine. These 3 smoothie recipes are easy, filled with nutrients and just what is needed for a hot summer day! 

The “Breakfast” Fix

Just a spoonful of oatmeal gives some complex carbohydrates for a slow release of energy for your morning. Combine it with some low fat yogurt or milk and fruits and you have a well-balanced breakfast all packed in one drink! 

Ingredients: 

  • 2 Tbsp oatmeal 
  • ½ cup skimmed milk 
  • 1 banana  
  • 1 tsp peanut putter 
  • 6 almonds 
  • ½ tsp cinnamon 

Serving Size: 2 cups (240 ml/cup) 
Calories: 260 kcal 

The “Green” Detox: 

The green smoothie is all about those vitamins! Choose a ripe avocado to provide thickness, adding spinach and cucumbers for extra nutrients!

Ingredients: 

  • ½ ripe avocado 
  • ½ cucumber 
  • 1 cup spinach 
  • ¼ cup mint leaves
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice 
  • ½ cup pineapple juice 
  • ½ cup ice 

Serving Size: 2 cups (240 ml/cup)
Calories: 300 kcal 

The “Energy Booster”: 

Boost your energy while on-the-go with a smoothie filled with super foods. The berries and pomegranate are filled with antioxidants and make it refreshing for a hot summer day!

Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup strawberries or mixed berries 
  • ½ cup unsweetened pomegranate juice 
  • 2 tsp honey 
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds 
  • 1 tsp flaxseeds, ground 
  • ½ cup ice 

Serving size: 2 cups (240 ml/cup) 
Calories: 200 kcal 

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for a few minutes. Once smooth, pour into cup and enjoy!
