Keep your Immunity Strong this Winter!

A well balanced diet is important for a strong immune system. These foods can boost your immunity because of their nutrients that will help protect you from the flu going around this season!  

Yogurt: Its rich in “probiotics,” the good bacteria for your gut that helps fight diseases! 

Carrots: These crunchy veggies are rich in beta-carotene or vitamin A that help keeping skin and tissues in your mouth, stomach, intestines and respiratory system healthy and free from infections. Other foods rich in vitamin A include sweet potatoes and spinach. 

Clementine: These seasonal and other citrus fruits such as oranges and grapefruit are rich in vitamin C. This vitamin helps boost the immune system and works to prevent a cold! Can you guess other foods rich in vitamin C? Try adding kiwis, strawberries, and bell peppers into your diet. 

Almonds: These raw nuts are rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps fight off free radicals that destroy your body’s cells. Other foods rich in vitamin E include spinach, peanut and nut butters, and sunflower seeds. 

Seafood: Great source of zinc that helps in wound healing. Other foods with zinc include lean meat, chicken, milk, and beans. 

Eggs: These contain protein, which is needed for your body’s immune system. A great breakfast to start your day. Protein is also found in meat and chicken or vegetable sources like beans, soy, lentils , and chickpeas. 

Kale: Kale and other dark green leafy veggies are sources of B vitamins that keep your energy high!
